Brief Biography

Brainstorming

Performance driven by curiosity and acute observation

Born in London in 1958, I was educated at Christ’s College Finchley and York University. To get fancy, I’m Michael Benis BA, FIL, MITI.

I lived and worked in Italy from 1984 until 1989 and then from 1991 until 1993, when I moved to Brighton.

Working as a teacher and translator in Bologna in 1985, Lamborghini changed my life by asking me to write a video for them and I became a copywriter. In-house experience at advertising agencies in London and Leeds followed, after which I put my combined experience in brand strategy and development, copywriting, creative direction and cross-cultural consulting to work in a number of innovative companies and services.

I speak Italian fluently, am married to a Sardinian, have one adult son, and now live in Brighton, although we frequently return to Italy, where we own a house in Tuscany.

My interests include backpacking, bicycles, cooking, motorcycles, music, Old English Sheepdogs, walking, weightlifting and writing.

My old website, created in 1992 and not updated for many embarrassing years of solid work, starred my Old English Sheepdog, Alex, as brand symbol. Charlie, on the right, modestly continues the tradition.
